Brand New Tech For Vein Treatment

Hey everyone! We are super excited to discuss new tech for spider vein treatment available now at the Vein clinic .  In fact, it is 2 innovations on a standard technique for treatment of spider veins that is quite effective, sclerotherapy

The first innovation is cryotherapy in addition to the typical injection of sclerosant into the target vein. Cryotherapy is delivered as cold air directly over the skin creating several different effects that benefit treatment:

  • Cooling anesthetic effect to minimize discomfort
  • Vein spasm heightening the effect of the sclerosant so that the walls of the vein come into contact with the injected solution equally
  • Can be combined with laser therapy for spider veins in certain situations

The second innovation has been the use of Augmented Reality. A polarizing light is displayed on the field of view highlighting not only the vessels seen at the surface, but also some of the feeder veins invisible to the naked eye. Treatment of the feeder veins leads to improved and more permanent effects when performed by a board-certified vein doctor.

For patients with more advanced diseased, cryosclerotherapy with augmented reality is performed after treatment of underlying venous insufficiency.  Dr Rios is a Clifton vein specialist who has years of experience using cryotherapy for spider veins.  Vein disease secondary to dysfunctional valves can be diagnosed with a duplex reflux ultrasound study and is associated with symptoms. The typical symptoms are leg pain, leg heaviness, cramps, restless legs, edema and skin discoloration.
